This delightful home is full of old-style seaside charm and has many big
windows from which you can enjoy the ocean views. Well located in
Craig, it has an extended bedroom area, a study, a big kitchen, 1.5 bathrooms, a
carport, a large indoor work area, covered outdoor work area and large
waterfront deck.
General Features

Well located in Craig this home has the ocean right off the deck!
Very practical, it has everything you might need - a covered entry way, a
small coat and boot entry area, a large kitchen, an open living area with
half bath, and an open extended upstairs bedroom area with a master bedroom
and bathroom, study (currently used as a bedroom) and living space. It
has a very large indoor work room (which could perhaps become another
bedroom) and connected outdoor covered work area, a covered carport and a
nice sunny deck (perfect for summer BBQs!) right next to the ocean.
With some adjustments, it could potentially become a 3 bedroom home. The home has an old-style seaside feel with rough texturing and log accents.
All appliances including a 36 inch TV are included. The home measures
approximately 1,138 sq ft for the living areas, and 1,338 sq ft with the
utility/work room included. With 55 ft of
waterfront this is a lovely oceanfront position with all the conveniences of
town nearby!
Entry
As you enter there is a convenient space to hang coats and place shoes.
To the left is a door to the work room/laundry and straight ahead is the
kitchen.
Kitchen
You could not ask for a bigger kitchen. With a big window right
over the kitchen sink here you can watch the ocean and surrounding mountains
and islands while you wash the dishes! It has a propane range and an
electric fridge/freezer and a hardwood floor and extra bench space opposite
the sink.
Living Room
Opening off the kitchen in an L shape is the living room, once again with
big windows from which you can enjoy the views! There is a small but
effective woodstove and a Toyo stove so you can choose how to heat the
house. This room feels very cozy with log accents and wood detailing.
To the side are the stairs and a half bathroom.
Upper Level

The upstairs area has an unusual but comfortable layout. As you
walk up the stairs you open into a bright and airy walkway/room with a
window and sloping roofline. To the left is the study, a room with a
window that opens to an interior view over the stairs. This room has a
sloping roofline that adds charm and currently has built-in bunk beds in it.
There is a curtained area for storage. The window is a little too
small to technically call this a bedroom, but the addition of a dormer
window could make this a very nice second bedroom.
Straight ahead is the master bedroom which is an open and bright room
with windows facing the ocean to the front and Sunnahae Mountain to the
side. You can watch the ocean from bed! Behind a wall, but
unenclosed, is a full bathroom with hanging space and storage.
Utility/Work Room
There is a 12 x 19' (interior measurement) workroom that is perfect for
all those winter projects. Insulated and with power it is ideal as a shop or a project room,
where you
can work all winter and stay out of the weather. The washing machine
and dryer are in
this room. There is a second door that opens onto a covered part of the deck
- an excellent wood shed or work area!
Possibly this room could be converted to a new master bedroom and
bathroom with a walkout onto the deck (you could put the kids upstairs, they
will love the style and layout!).
Details
The
home was built in 1974 with an addition in 1985. It is built on a
reinforced shot rock foundation with creosote pilings and has a shot rock
retaining wall. The home is on city water and sewer, has power and
phone from AP&T, and satellite TV. The roof is metal and the crawl
space is insulated and has a vapor barrier. All the siding,
undercoating, tar paper and plywood were replaced in 2004, and there are
other new details. Exterior is wood and will
need upkeep. Thermal windows have been installed throughout but the living
room windows are safety glass. The lot size is 55' x 167' but more than half
of that is out in the water. It is within Craig city limits and city
taxes apply.
This home exudes charm and seaside delight. It would make the
perfect Alaskan style vacation home or with a few modifications a wonderful
family home. With lots of extras, this is a great place to enjoy the
best that Alaska has to offer!

Looking straight out - even the stormy day views are
beautiful!
