South Thorne Bay
Home on
Waterfront...
$132,000 - Waterfront 3 bedroom fully furnished home, water access, power
This property is just under an acre,
has a large home, a float, hot tub, greenhouse, water views, phone and
electricity! It needs TLC and ongoing maintenance, but
would make for a great home or vacation residence. There are no
property taxes.
This cedar sided home has the feel of a rustic old style
Alaskan lodge. Owner built in 1987, it has its quirks but is comfortable and cheerful. On
the lower level is a large living room that opens to a spacious kitchen.
Space seems to be the keyword as even the bathroom and utility room and food
storage areas are large! There are three bedrooms and a storage room
upstairs. The bedrooms have a sloping roof, double sided vinyl windows built-ins
and wood paneling.
Outside
the house has decks all around - lots of room to enjoy summer and to
entertain! A 4 person hot tub completes the experience - you feel as
though you are bathing in a tree house, views of the ocean below, and the
trees around. The lot is steep and steps lead from the beach to the house.
There are quite a few steps, so fitness is a must! About halfway up is a shed and a greenhouse, and an area that would be nice for a garden. The
float is home made with
connecting log floats and the house foundation consists of creosote pilings. The property does need some work, but for this
price, it is a handyman's dream.
The property has power and phone. Water is
from rain catchment and a septic wastewater
system. The property is water accessible, it is about a 10 minute
skiff ride to Davidson's Landing in South Thorne Bay and 15 minutes to the Thorne Bay dock. The property is connected to the
mainland of South Thorne Bay, and it is physically possible to walk to the
lot but it is steep and permission must be obtained from the connecting
property owners. It is actually a really nice boat ride! The bay has a lot
of fresh water in it and it has been known to freeze in part in winter.
Be aware, boat accessible living and stairways are
not for everyone, and this is a rainforest, so ongoing maintenance for any
property is a must! But if it is for you, here you can find a nice
waterfront home for a good price, and everything else is just part of the
adventure...
A lovely, quiet property with great views.
There is work to be done, mainly on the stairs, decks, float, but the home is priced accordingly. If you
are a bit of a handyperson, here is your chance to get into a nice waterfront
home.
Just drift in and start
living!

The side of the house and
the view from the deck. The property is in a nice protected bay.

Can you imagine your summers
here?

The kitchen and adjacent
dining area - check out the fabulous cook stove!

The living room is partially
open to the kitchen with lowered roof sections and counters to separate and define the
spaces.

sloping ceiling and wood paneling. All rooms have built in wardrobe
space.

Big trees surround the
property and the home feels very private. There is a delightful cedar
grove on the waterfront, and the hot tub has very relaxing views!

The greenhouse and the lot
from the water. The greenhouse is in the mid left and a storage shed
to the right. Stairs and walkways go from the float to the house.
