So what does Prince of Wales Island look like? Here are a few photos to help you get an idea.
Why do we love Prince of Wales Island? Well, apart from its gently stunning beauty we enjoy: the mild costal winters, the extensive road system, the lack of grizzly bears (we only have black bears), the isolation from a main tourist track (no cruise ships), the wonderful wildlife, the ability to provide for a subsistence way of life and to live close to nature. The mild low temperatures mean very few bugs, no ants, snakes and even mosquitoes are hardly noticeable (we do get no-see-ums though!). There is not even poison ivy or any of those plants that can make the outdoors uncomfortable. Nature is soft and beautiful here, and the low clouds give it a dreamlike quality.
Oh yes, and did I mention the hiking, camping and canoeing in pristine wilderness...
